Expo Management provided ECB with invaluable help and support with what was a first in the world of cricket - Cricket Live 99. Not just a live event involving stars of the international game and attracting 2000 delegates, but also a series of workshops, a gala dinner and an exhibition. It was an ambitious project and their expertise helped ensure its success.
Tim Lamb, Former Chief Executive, England & Wales Cricket Board
Expo Management Ltd have just organised their first event on our behalf, the Scottish Motorcycle Show 2002. Held at Edinburgh’s Royal Highland Showground, this is Scotland’s biggest biking exhibition occupying four halls and a fifth, temporary structure built specially each year. In addition we fill the surrounding 110 acre site with a race circuit, supermoto motorcycle test track, stunt display and fun fair. This is a complex operation, supported by all the major brands including Honda, Harley-Davidson, Triumph and Ducati.
Held in mid-March, the weekend was hit by the worst weather that this part of Scotland has experienced for many years. So bad in fact, that a temporary structure housing some exhibitors had to be closed early on the second day for health and safety reasons - the roof was in danger of blowing off!
I was impressed by Expo's calm approach to handling this situation in particular, and general difficulties experienced throughout the period as a result of the extraordinary weather conditions. As far as I (and our insurers) are concerned they saved us having to abandon the event, possibly even before it had opened.
Given that this was the first time Expo had seen the show, let alone organised it, to perform so well in such demanding circumstances must indicate a well-organised, competent and adaptable team. As a result, Expo Management Ltd has now been awarded the contract for the Motor Cycle News Road Racing and Superbike Show. Occupying every square inch of London’s Alexandra Palace, this annual event is the second biggest motorcycle show in the country. You don't let monkeys loose on a challenge like that.
