Expo Management push the envelope to give the Teenage Cancer Trust a £5,000 boost
Expo Management answered the call from Volvo Bus who, along with customers and other stakeholders, is running a programme of events in 2009 and 2010 targeted at raising £100,000 towards a new state of the art teenage cancer unit in the region.
At the recent Route One Excellence Awards, held in conjunction with the Coach & Bus Live show at the NEC, organisers Expo Management put envelopes on the tables of the 750 guests attending the prestigious annual black tie event.
Each table was encouraged to put a donation in an envelope, in return for a raffle ticket. The lucky winner - Mark Horsburgh from E & M Horsburgh in Scotland – won a classic car experience for a weekend.
“Thanks to the exceptional generosity of our friends from the bus and coach industry on the night of the awards, I am delighted to be able to hand over £5,000 to the TCT for today” said Mark Griffin, Managing Director of Expo Management.
Accepting the donation, TCT’s Regional Appeals Manager for the West Midlands Paula Hancox said, “This is a fantastic gift and a major step along the road to reaching our target. Not only do Teenage Cancer Trust units provide superior medical facilities and specialist staff, importantly they provide an environment where teenagers can meet other young people in a similar situation to empathise with and gain support from.
“Everything about the Units are designed to give teenagers the very best chance of a positive outcome and we through this Appeal we want every young person in the West Midlands to be able to have that chance.”
Mark Griffin added, “All of the team at Expo Management are delighted to be associated with this highly deserving cause. So much so, that at the next Route One Excellence Awards, which will run alongside Euro Bus Expo next year at the NEC on 2-4th November 2010, we will also run another fundraising activity to support the Teenage Cancer Trust.
